Keeping Your Device Information Safe and Secure

Do you keep the details (eg serial number, date of purchase, model no) of your devices in case you need them for insurance or warranty claims?? Have you ever lost your phone or Camera? What can you do? Well most people do not, and if you do where do you keep the information?

Well, this is a system to keep your information safe and secure. Here at Morley Digital we recommend yu us an app called 'Bitwarden' Password Manager to keep all your logins and passwords safe and secure. But Bitwarden does more than just save passwords, it has a few other features that are very useful but not used:

Login: is the section where logins and passwords are stored
Cards: is where you can store your bank card details

Identity: is where you can store personal information about people, eg, name address, safe and secure.

Secure Notes: is where you can store any information you like in text form, for example, keep information os insurance docs, or car docs etc. Plus this is where I store details of my devices, eg, phone, camera, tablet etc. Info such as Model numbers, Serial numbers, date of purchase, warranty dates etc.

So, how do we do this?

The assumption is that you already use Bitwarden for logins and passwords. (If not, contact us at Morley Digital and we can help you get started)
  1. Click on Folders + and create a new folder called INVENTORY
  2. Click in the large + sign at the bottom of the screen to add a new entry
  3. Where it says TYPE, change it to SECURE NOTES
  4. In the NAME box enter the name of the device you are recording
  5. Click on the FOLDER box and choose INVENTORY
  6. In the NOTES box further down enter the details of your device, eg, Model No, serial No, IMEI number if its a phone and any other information, like warranty etc
  7. Click on SAVE

Your information is safe and secure and available from any device which you have Bitwarden synchronised to.
