Passwords
Another great session F2F on Monday, this weeks we had a variety of issues to look at, but in particular:
Passwords: (always a good favorite) and how to set up recovery emails, plus a discussion on pros and cons of the methods of storing passwords.
So to be on the safe side, you must never use the same password for more than one site login, howere this does cause issues, how many site do you access?? Lots and it does grow over time. So that means remembering a load of passwords which of course we cannot do!
What is the solution? Many people write them in a book which is usually kept at home and rightly so, do not loose that in the street. Some even use a post it not in their glasses case, (can't find room to put my glasses in now!!)
I used to keep mine in the contacts on my google contacts, so they were on my phone and on the computer when needed. However if someone hacks your phone, then they know all your passwords. Although I used a code- much better.
Password Managers: These are apps for both the phone and PC which manage all your passwords with the access using one secure password, so in effect you only have to remembver just one to open your password manager app. I was very against these at first, but thanks to Alan Briggs, who showed me BITWARDEN (and it was recommended by the PC Advisor Mag) and it is a superb piece of software and free.....
It can save all your passwords, bank cards, secure notes all encrypted, secure and backed up. It can also generate secure passwords in many formats or you can just make your own up.
We now recommend this to all the visitors at Morley Digital...try it out.
Here are a couple of photos from todays session.
